Spaying is the process of surgically removing a female animal's reproductive system, and neutering is the male equivalent. These processes eliminate the risk of reproductive cancers in pets and is strongly recommended by most vets. Sterilizing animals also prevents behavioral problems such as marking, roaming, and reduced aggression.

Spaying and neutering helps reduce the number of animals who end up euthanized for space in these shelters.
