PREVENTING LOST ANIMALS

A small chip inserted into the back of pet

Contains the owner's name, contact information, and address

If the pet is lost, it can be scanned to obtain the contact information of the owner

Can be done by any veterinarian, shelter, or rescue organizations

Collar with owner's contact information and address

Sold at pet shops​ and online

LOST YOUR PET?

Check all local county shelters

File a missing pet report to a shelter, so you will be contacted if the pet is turned in

Strays are held for a minimum of 3 days

Check/post on local lost and found pet pages on social media

Check/post on apps such as Neighborhood and Finding Rover

Post "lost pet" fliers around your neighborhood
FOUND AN ANIMAL?

If you can temporary house them:

Take them to a local vet/shelter to check for a microchip​

Make and post "found posters"

Post on Facebook lost and found animal pages, other social media pages, Nextdoor, or Finding Rover

If you cannot house them:

Call an animal control to take the animal to a local shelter​

Take the animal to a shelter yourself
